Lucknow: The Industree Foundation has taken a proactive approach to empowering rural women in India by promoting the cultivation of bamboo, which aligns with the government’s Lakhpati Didi concept introduced by the Prime Minister.
Elaborating on the plan of action, Neju George Abraham, CEO, Industree Foundation said – recognizing that many rural women have access to small parcels of land, often amounting to just one-third of an acre or less, the foundation has stepped in to provide them with the necessary resources and support to grow bamboo as a sustainable livelihood option.
Neju George Abraham said – through this initiative, Industree Foundation is not only helping these women generate reliable incomes, but is also fostering a value chain approach that connects them directly to major global marketplaces like IKEA and Walmart.
By tapping into the versatility and rapid growth potential of bamboo, the Industree Foundation is enabling these rural women to transform their limited land holdings into thriving bamboo plantations. The foundation provides them with high-quality bamboo seedlings, technical training on cultivation techniques, and ongoing guidance to ensure the successful management of their bamboo crops.
